Workshop reviews

“We had such an amazing time making origami bags with Amy at The Baltic in Gateshead. Amy was so friendly and really knew her stuff, which made me feel very comfortable as a complete beginner! The fabric that she brought was beautiful and I was so excited to use the sewing machine. Amy’s explanations were patient and thorough and she was always there to offer a helping hand - which was definitely needed! By the end of the day, I couldn’t believe that I’d made something so cute and high quality with my own hands! Everyone in attendance was so lovely and we had a great time getting to know new people. I really recommend this workshop to anyone who wants to get creative and try something new! Thank you Amy!”

“I really enjoyed my day making something pretty for myself. It's lovely to be able to take time out and learn something new in good company. Amy is so patient and willing to explain more than once just how exactly to turn that tricky corner in the arms and how to make those seams straight. I learned about french seams and using bias binding on a curve, things I'd never attempted before. My confidence with a sewing machine has grown since going on this course and I've been using it more for sewing tasks. I'm also making my sister a Kimono Jacket for Christmas using the skills Amy showed me. I would definitely recommend any of Amy's workshops.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed the Origami bag workshop and would highly recommend it to others. Amy explained and demonstrated how to create the bag very clearly and made sure that everyone understood the different stages of its construction. At the end of the session I was delighted to have created my own bag and it has inspired me to get my sewing machine out again and continue to use the skills that I used on the course.”

“The origami bag workshop was so much fun and a really lovely way to spend an afternoon. I'd had limited experience of using a sewing machine and Amy did a great job of explaining the different steps, and of making us feel confident. Highly recommend - and I've come away with a beautiful bag that I am really proud of making!”
